Letting Go & Connections

Hope you are well.

I would like to wish you a very Happy New Year.

Wishing you a wonderful 2023 filled with lots of love, laughs, dreams and blessings come true.

I used to have a theme for the year and I haven't for the last couple of years.

This year feels like a really big year for me as I have a milestone birthday, my 50th coming up soon and I want the whole year to be a celebration for my birthday.

This year my theme is Letting Go.

This was also my theme back in 2015.

However back then Letting Go for me was about literally letting go of things that didn't serve me that were keeping me stuck in feelings that didn't nourish me.

At the end of 2014 I met a lady on holidays and we just clicked straight away and I was sharing with her some things that bothered me about my family.  She turned around and asked me such a simple question “Why do you care?“

That was so profound for me at the time as I'd never asked myself that question before, and thus started my journey of finding a little more peace inside myself.

However, this year Letting Go is taking on a whole new meaning.

Letting Go is not about finding it in myself to be ok with things that I was not ok about like in 2014.

Letting Go is now about using my voice to be able to say what feels right to say and not worrying about what other people think about me.

Letting Go is about staying in my power when I know/feel/need something and not being concerned with what the other person thinks about me and not letting people walk all over me, holding onto my boundaries and speaking my needs.

This is a very liberating feeling to be in.

Having complete legitimacy over your desires is so important because this feeling transfers to our bodies and our nervous system as well as the energy we transmit and I think that's a really amazing thing!!!

My other theme for this year is building Connection.

I'd love to be able to be of service and create more connections and community and share more of me with you in the hope that something may support you in some way.

Everywhere I turn – in books, on my travels or speaking to people everyday I see how much connection and community is so essential for our wellbeing and our hearts and souls.

About 9 years ago, I watched a TED talk by Dr Lissa Rankin, MD and she said the number one killer was not what you would think - heart disease or cancer but it was Loneliness.

Dr Rankins studies even showed that the people who fared the best in a study of wellness and wellbeing in general were the people who leaned in to their relationships with family, with friends, with community.

Time and time again I see how opening up and sharing my vulnerabilities with others makes me feel more connected to others.

When I share more of myself with others who I feel and know I can trust it comes back around and others feel safe sharing and opening up to me and there is the end of loneliness right there.

Loneliness doesn't necessarily mean we don't have people in our lives.  You could be surrounded by lots of people, even be part of a 'tribe' however if you don't share your life, yourself and are not open with those who you feel comfortable with and trust then it's a very lonely existence.

Through my newsletter and Circles and my family and friendships I want to create that connection that I know is so important for us – mind, body, spirit and soul.

I want people to feel the power of opening up even just a little.

You know how they say a problem shared is a problem halved.

I'd expand on the word problem and also incorporate the following:

  • A challenge

  • An experience

  • A feeling

  • What's on your heart

And what's halved is the metaphoric weight that you carry on your shoulders which is really the heaviness you carry on your mind all as a result of the nurturing, nourishing experience of sharing and deep connection.

It doesn't always have to be a problem. I feel simply sharing how you feel, what you want and your dreams and desires can take a weight off us too.

And there is so much power in that!!!

I invite you to be curious…

  • Do you have a theme for what you want to create this year?

  • Do you have people you feel comfortable and trust sharing your life with?

  • Are there areas of your life that feel weighed down and you'd like to feel more free around?

  • Have you ever reflected on being clear about your needs and wants?

If you feel called to share anything I'd love to hear from you.

Hope you’re having a wonderful day

With Love

Rochelle xx
